Some thoughts on Colin Kaepernick

My wife and I were discussing this whole issue of kneeling at football games, etc. and I thought it was worth writing down a couple of points.
First, I fully support Colin's right to free speech, protesting police violence... But, I think he did a terrible job of articulating what he was kneeling about. Honestly, until my wife told me, I didn't know why he was protesting. And I watch the news and read a lot. He missed a big opportunity to help people understand his message and connect with it. Beyond that, by not making sure his message was clear, he upset many Americans since it looked like he was being disrespectful to America in general.
Lastly, he's being paid millions of dollars WORKING for his football team. If he wanted to protest by throwing the ball in the wrong direction, he'd be fired immediately. Maybe behavior on the sidelines doesn't count but it's debatable. So he might have been smarter to find a different venue as well. But that's not as clear.
