This is a book that talks about technology (AI, Gene Editing, Space Travel, etc) discussing the capabilities and risks. Can AI create an entity that wants to destroy humanity, etc. It also talks about humans difficulty thinking long-term - Politicians have no incentive and only focus on short-term issues and re-election. What are the true long-term risks does humanity face? Should we be concerned about climate change even if it's going to hurt the earth a few generations from now. Should we spend billions of dollars trying to send a unmanned spacecraft to tweak the trajectory of an asteroid so it won't hit the earth. Should we think long-term about population growth? Staying within future planetary "boundaries"
Net net, the good news is that technology and human capabilities continue to progress. The bad news is that we can take it and do very bad things. No great solutions suggested.
