It's a well-known fact that Google, Amazon, Facebook..and many other web-based companies suck up as much data as they can and use it to generate ad revenues. I'm not exactly sure if that's bad or good but it's quite clear - as I've read elsewhere - that we're the product and not the customer. So, I've decided to do a couple things to skew things. First, I use Duck Duck Go rather than Google for searching. Here's the site:
I also try to use Walmart's Jet.com (now gone) instead of Amazon whenever possible. I'm sure they use my data as well but at least they each only see a part of what I'm doing.
